UFO Disclosures, Conspiracies, and Consciousness

(Crossposted from www.c4chaos.com)

Yesterday was a monumental day for UFO enthusiasts, UFOlogists, and yes, even conspiracy theorists. There was a conference held at the National Press Club on the topic of close encounters with UFOs . Here's the PRWeb release of the event:

"Former Arizona Governor Fife Symington will moderate a distinguished panel of former high-ranking government, aviation, and military officials from seven countries to discuss close encounters with what the US Air Force describes as Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). Representatives from France, England, Belgium, Chile, Peru, Iran and the US will call for the US Government to join in an international dialogue and re-open its investigation – which the Air Force shut down over 30 years ago – in cooperation with other governments currently dealing with this unusual and controversial phenomenon. While on active duty, the panelists have either witnessed a UFO incident or have conducted an official investigation into UFO cases relevant to aviation safety and national security."

Take note that the people in the panel discussion are not your average UFO crackpots, Roswell spooks and New Age nuts. They are people with impeccable credentials. One of them is Nick Pope, Ministry of Defence, UK (1985-2006).

It's easy to dismiss individuals without credentials claiming to witness a close encounter. It's also easy to dismiss individuals even if they have good credentials. But if it's a group of individuals, from around the world, with impeccable credentials, and who are willing to testify before Congress to tell their story, then it would be bordering on the irrational to ignore them altogether. But ignore them is what the mainstream media in the U.S. just did. As far as I know only CNN covered the conference in detail. Most news reports I've seen so far are short articles with a couple of quotes from the panel members then ending the report with quotes from an opposing view. But even CNN's coverage is a bit *watered down.* Check out this video of the Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

And here's another video: CNN About UFO Debate at the National Press Club

CNN also covered this event on Anderson Cooper 360.

UFO Close Encounters - Anderson Cooper CNN

I watched it last night but not much there either. Just a lemon-eating debate between James Fox (the organizer of the UFO conference and Executive Producer of the documentary, Out of the Blue) and a skeptic, James McGaha. You're better off watching the Larry King Live UFO special.

Anyway, most news coverage I've read didn't mention that the National Press Club UFO Conference was a continuation of the effort by (or has connections with) The Disclosure Project which was started in May 9, 2001, headed by Dr. Steven Greer.

Check out this two-hour video: The Disclosure Project May 9th, 2001 National Press Club Conference.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but when important issues like this are buried (or not covered) by the media, I pay more attention.

Now, why is this an important issue you might ask? Well, let's just say that if Dr. Steven Greer (and all the members and supporters of The Disclosure Project) is correct, then solutions to our energy crisis, Global Warming, poverty, and other issues that plague humanity lie in the full disclosure of our contact with extraterrestrials. Check out the following lengthy videos of Steven Greer giving lectures.

Xcon 2004 - Steven Greer, M.D. - The Untold Story of the Disclosure Project
(note: in this video, Steven Greer's arguments are hair-raising. he's arguing from an alternative energy perspective. remember that this video was during a 2004 conference. Greer mentioned that we're lucky if the price of oil is $10 per barrel in 5 years. well, the price of oil per barrel as of this writing is a whopping $94.65 per barrel!) [ed note: Casey had corrected me on this. Greer actually mentioned "You think gas is expensive now? Wait five or ten years. You'll be lucky if you can buy it for five or ten dollars a gallon." (see 11:58 mark on this video)]

UFO Disclosure Project - Dr. Steven Greer - Hidden Truth Forbidden Knowledge
(note: check out the 1:09:12 mark where he talked about meeting Dennis Kucinich.)

I know. It sounds like a high-tech mythology of the Second Coming, or a souped-up version of New Age 2012. To be honest, my head is still spinning from the ongoing research that I'm doing. I admit that there are times when Greer sounds like a nut-case. But then if he's a nut-case, why did he have access to Bill Clinton and the CIA director (as he claims)? Why would Dennis Kucinich and other prominent politicians and government officials pay him a visit? And how could he organize 400+ people with high profile credentials and convince them to testify before Congress to tell their story?

I don't know. I'm new to Steven Greer. So I'm keeping Greer on my radar to see what he's up to and what the skeptics are saying about him as well.

Speaking of Dennis Kucinich, that poor guy got ridiculed in the media for sticking to his story about him witnessing a UFO. The media is now painting him like a nut-case and using that incident to question is candidacy. That's what you get for opening your mouth about UFOs. It's alright to profess your belief in God. But damn you, if you believe in UFOs. Ah, well.

Ok, back to Steven Greer... What I find interesting about his perspective is that he's arguing from the perspective of energy crisis, Global Warming, sustainability, poverty, consciousness-raising and spirituality. He's no slouch when it comes to mystical teachings either. He studied Transcendental meditation and he now teaches meditation, on how to contact E.Ts. According to Greer, samadhi is a protocol to get in touch with E.T.s and the teeming consciousness all around us. I know, sounds crazy, right? But regardless of Greer's state of sanity, I find The Disclosure Project very intriguing and deserving of people's attention. The project's main objectives are very rational:

-- To hold open, secrecy-free hearings on the UFO/Extraterrestrial presence on and around Earth.

-- To hold open hearings on advanced energy and propulsion systems that, when publicly released, will provide solutions to global environmental challenges.

-- To enact legislation which will ban all space-based weapons.

-- To enact comprehensive legislation to research, develop and explore space peacefully and cooperatively with all cultures on Earth and in space.

Add to that, the list of credible witnesses in The Disclosure Project and we've got a reasonable doubt that there is a conspiracy to suppress information about UFO and extraterrestrials.

Having said that, let's keep our critical thinking caps on. Let's maintain a healthy skepticism for the sake of relative truth, not for the sake of hardcore and irrational skepticism.

So allow me to end with a skeptical note: What's stopping UFOs from landing in the middle of a live major league baseball game, or a football game, where thousands of people could witness the event, not to mention the millions of people watching on their TVs? No government could suppress this information. No need for Congressional hearings. And this would definitely change our world.

P.S. There's also an ongoing discussion about this on the I-I pod. Feel free to put in your two cents. Speaking of I-I, remember Joe Firmage? ;)

he actually states the we're lucky if the price of Gas isn't 5-10$ per gallon
;)

I find it interesting that this movement is now tapping onto energy and environment as a leverage point for getting their point across or getting their voice heard.  Much like the environmental movement has tapped global warming as a leverage point to get their agenda across.

interesting.

gah. thanks for the correction and keeping me honest, Casey! but Greer was actually talking about gas in the context of fossil fuels (at the 11:58 mark on this video). and yep, the price that he mentioned is the price of gas. i'll update the post accordingly.

it's good to know that you took the time to watch the video :)

Thanks for the link and vid roundup, C4!  It's always fun when a flurry of UFO interest strikes the world (of some small subsection thereof, anyway). :)

Joe Firmage wasn't the only I-I affiliated individual interested in UFOs; one-time I-I president Keith Thompson wrote one of the most comprehensive and literate books ever composed on the subject: ”Angels and Aliens.”  Highly recommended…

Tom, thanks for the tip on Keith Thompson. i didn't know that :)

btw, as i've suggested to you before, i'd like to see WIE magazine to do a UFO issue. maybe you guys can interview Steven Greer and other high profile *credible* ufologists and present their accounts from an integral perspective? same way with what you did on the WIE Evolution issue. now that would be very cool and interesting :)

like you said, integral ufology ;)

thanks for doing this one c4! i exhausted the library material on the subject between 95 and 2001 and came to the conclusion that people like john mack and j.vallee were not conspiracy crack-pots…although for sure, there were a lot of cracked-pots that talked on this subject on the art bell show through those years, too!

on this issue, i'm an open minded skeptic. as you may know i have had some very interesting experiences with what i would call angelic beings…….but i think the ufo phenomena is too compelling to right off as silly nonsense. my own opinion is that i think they would be inter-dimensional beings but only because of the huge difficulties of traversing the distances in this universe. but what the hell do i know……which isn't to say that e.t's don't live in these dimensions somewhere in this physical universe..whole nother thing to say that they have traveled the distance here to watch or manipulate us…..

however……

you heard of michael tsarion? the atlantis ufo hypothesis………he said something interesting: when the atlanteans lost their technological ability because of a great cataclysm; they have slowly but surely sought to regain their abilities and succeeded in 1945 in getting half-way there by turning matter into energy. now they have to find out how to create matter from energy and they will become the gods once more…….now this is a long -term conspiracy theory………..

all i can really say is i've always thought that kw guy kind of looks shifty to me!lol

Well done C4!  On your end note I might attempt to articulate a reason for our interstellar friends not landing on the Superbowl's 50-yard line.  I'll throw up wikipedia's entry on the Prime Directive.  Money Quote:

“The Prime Directive dictates that there can be no interference with the internal affairs of other civilizations. …It has special implications, however, for civilizations still at a 'pre-warp' stage of development, since no primitive culture can be given or exposed to any information regarding advanced technology or the existence of extraplanetary civilizations, lest this exposure alter the natural development of the civilization.

Although, had I wrote it, i'd have ended it as such: lest this exposure alter the natural development of the civilization for the worse. Think about it–prime directive be damned–A truly enlightened civilization would no doubt interfere with another in order to stop that other from destroying themselves.  So given that enlightened extraterrestrials would find it universally beneficial for another galactic neighbor to achieve global consciousness, it's approach might be more akin to gently coaxing along a clumsy toddler to walk.  I doubt it would or could be done in a drastic fashion such as you mentioned, since most of our world is at the mythic level (pre-warp stage of development indeed). Call me overly skeptical if everyone in the stadium on superbowl sunday would instantly embrace each other in Kosmic unity when the  mothership lands!  More like sheer pandemonium (remember the publics reaction to the War of The Worlds radio broadcast in the 30's?).

To belabor the point: Enlightened beings wouldn't sit the wobbly toddler down to watch Jacob's Ladder for the benefit of his/her conscious development.

Nope… Gentle coaxing… That's what the Kosmocentric Prime Directive is about, and perhaps a rational explanation as to why the most authentic UFO reports and experiences have stayed teetering on the mainstream periphery, only coaxing when and where the time is right.

I suspect, however, that as more and more of us are capable of walking on our own, the more the mystery will be revealed.  Hell, maybe they're just waiting for the right venue to land at!  If the stadium perhaps were filled will concious people? Maybe all of us at zaadz should buy superbowl tickets in advance!

At about the 7min mark here Dennis Kucinich hilariously answers another question about the UFO.  BTW he still has my vote!
